FAQs

So, why Malta?
We chose Malta because that’s where Corel was born and raised. He then came to the U.S. at 17 years old with his family. Valletta is the capital of Malta, it’s full of history dating back decades and is guaranteed to take your breath away.

How is the weather in Malta?
The perfect European summer. You should expect temperatures ranging from 70-80 degrees fahrenheit.

What power plugs are used in Malta?
For Malta, the plug type is G - which is the plug that has 3 rectangular pins in a triangle pattern and which is same plug used in the United Kingdom. We recommend bringing a travel adaptor with you.

Will my cell phone work in Malta?
We recommend consulting with your cell phone provider to determine if your cell phone will work or not. Typically an international plan will be needed but you can always choose to set your phone on wifi only - which is widely available at most venues and locations.

Are there any COVID restrictions in Malta?
At this time there are no COVID restrictions in Malta or in any of the European countries. As the months progress, we will ensure to keep you updated should anything change. Your airline should also let you know of the changing requirements as well.

What do I need to get into Malta?
There is no special Visa required to travel to Europe/Malta. However, make sure your passport is not expiring anytime soon!

What is the best way to get around in Malta?
Malta has driving apps such as Uber, Bolt and others. We recommend downloading Bolt. Uber will work but it only just started in Malta so it can get expensive. Bolt is super easy to use and highly reliable - just like Uber is in the States.

Any tips to beat the jet-lag?
We recommend trying to get as much sleep as you can on the plane ride over to Malta. Once you land, the trick is to power through and not take any naps. Try to go to bed at a normal time that you normally would. We recommend taking some melatonin at night just to put you back on a normal schedule. Of course, first check with your health provider, we are not doctors.

When is the best time to buy my flight?
We recommend buying your flight as soon as you know you are coming. The closer to summer it gets, the higher the prices. We also recommend looking on travel sites on Tuesdays, as they tend to be cheaper for some reason.

What is the best day to arrive/depart?
Since there are no direct flights to Malta from the US, you will have to make a layover at a destination of your choice. We recommend arriving to Malta at least a day before the wedding. This will allow for you to get acclimated and join us at our welcome party on August 31st. You can then either stay in Malta after the wedding day to explore or you can feel free to head to your next stop - no pressure.

The Hotel link you provided is not working. What should I do?
If you are having issues with the hotel links, please feel free to reach out to us and we would be happy to help.

What should I wear, is there a dress code for the welcome party?
For the ladies, we recommend summer dresses and for the men, we recommend smart casual. It will not be as formal of an event as the wedding day - so feel free to wear whatever’s comfortable.

Do I have to attend the welcome party if I’m jet-lagged?
If you are not feeling up to attending the welcome party, we totally understand. Jet lag is real! We will see you on our big day.

What should I wear, is there a dress code for the wedding day?
The dress code for our wedding is formal attire.

What time should I arrive to the ceremony?
The ceremony will begin promptly at 3:30pm. We recommend arriving by 3:15pm at the latest to ensure a good seat. You’ll also get to hang with Corel and the groomsmen and snag a couple of church ceiling photos for your Insta followers.

Will the ceremony be outside?
The ceremony will not be outside, it will take place inside of the church.

Will there be transportation to the reception provided?
We will be providing two methods of transportation from the ceremony to the reception. First option will be to take a quick guided tour drive through the capital, Valletta, which ends at the reception venue. The alternative will be to hop on a bus with no tour and head straight to the reception. We recommend the tour, as there is quite a bit to see and appreciate.

Will the reception be outside?
The reception will be outside from 4:30pm-10pm. The afterparty will be inside and will commence at 10pm to 1am - let’s see how many of you will last!

What should I do if I can't make it?
We will miss you. If you can’t make it, please let us know at your earliest by RSVP, “no” in the RSVP section.

Is there parking? If not, where should you park?
For our international travelers, we recommend taking a Bolt to the ceremony since we plan on drinking quite a bit. For our Maltese locals, we recommend parking by the Phoenicia - we’ll be providing transportation to and from the reception venue.

Are kids welcome?
While kids are welcomed, it’s not encouraged. If you are having a hard time finding a sitter, please let us know.

Can I add additional people to my RSVP? I want them to experience Malta.
We unfortunately have a limited number of seats at the venue. If you would like to bring an additional person, please request this ahead of time and we will see what we can do.

When is the RSVP deadline?
The RSVP deadline is June 1st.

Do I need to mail back my RSVP or can I do it online?
All RSVP should be done online. Please scan the QR code on our invite or visit https://www.theumachlove.com/rsvp to RSVP.

Will there be any vegan/vegetarian/gluten free/special diet options?
Yes, we will provide any of these options should you need them. If you have specific dietary needs, please include that in the RSVP section when you choose your menu item.

Where are you registered?
We are registered at www.zola.com/registry/elizabethandcorel.

Will transportation be provided between to/from the hotel?
Transportation will not be provided from your hotel to the ceremony however, we will be providing transportation after the party from the reception back to any hotel in Valletta. If you are staying outside of Valletta, Bolt will be the best option.
